Dressing Up Dessert

Love this article in the NY Times about Amy Atlas and dessert presentation.
"People just tack it onto the end of the meal, which is silly, because people love dessert.
It’s your last chance to leave a great impression on your guests.”

Seriously Sweet Bridal Shower

Aside from this amazing sweet table, there was a Pinkberry bar full mini shakes, frozen yogurt and toppings! Lucky ladies.

The decor and vibe was feminine, airy, clean and fresh. We took sherbet colors as our main inspiration and incorporated lace, lockets, vintage milk glass vessels and cameos of Leila’s silhouette to give the shower a girly, yet sophisticated feel.

And Then Macarons Took Over the World

Sometimes there's just no ignoring blog trends. Recently it's been macarons, although in their defense they've been around for awhile. They do look pretty and are suuuper versatile with all those color choices (especially for weddings). In February, NPR even declared the macaron the new cupcake. Poor cupcakes. They had a good run.

More on the French confection:
Word on the street is Sucre is the place to be for a sweet fix.
You know Martha's all over the macaron.
"Macarons are not meant to be mainstream." Yikes, WSJ.
Some blame Oprah for their increase in popularity. Obviously she'd have something to do with this.

SS Tip #19 - Cavity Buffet, Don't Skimp on the Sugar

Have you ever heard of Bakerella? Someone great told me about her and I'm so glad they did. Well, she recently went to a Christmas party and took some pics of the unbelievable decorations all made by the hostess. Just looking at the dessert table makes my teeth hurt, but it also deserves a huge smile for being so adorable and amazing. Major jealously issues with it, but where did she get the time?! I would like a friend like her.

Shared by Bakerella. Visit here to see more pictures. Peek around her website and don't miss cake pops.

SS Tip #7 - A Table That is Sweet

Over in the "About Me" section it mentions something about Dessert Bars. I thought I should back that little note up with some inspiration. I think about dessert bars a lot, mostly because I have a big thing for cake stands. Also, though, because I want to have parties all the time for no good reason. That's the thing - dessert bars aren't just for weddings.

Oh dear. Have you ever seen anything by Amy Atlas? Prepare yourself. The top candy bar was for a bat mitzvah and the white one was a bridal shower. See, not weddings. From Amy Atlas.

Look. at. that.  And it's not on a card table. Or a couple of tv dinner tables with a plastic tablecloth thrown on top.  It's on a little dresser. A little dresser that they brought outside just for the dessert bar. I love it. Owl themed baby shower. Make sure to look at all of the pictures because the whole event is amazing.            From Hostess with the Mostess blog.

While this is from a wedding, it might as well be someone's birthday party. Or baby shower. I love the lighting and banner. Found on The Inspired Bride.

*When you're done reading this, go back to Amy Atlas'
website and look at everything (if you haven't already).
