Adios

Leaving for Cancun in the morning for the wedding of some old friends. If I was proactive I would have some guest posts lined up like a professional. Instead, here's my fantasy blog draft for guest bloggers. Hasta luego (next Tuesday)!

Baby No. 2 Shower

I love all the details from this green baby shower by Brooklyn Limestone. I'm all about quirky & especially dig those glasses.

I Think This is the Best Costume for Today

"...I don't like women in skirts and the best thing is to wear pantyhose or some pants under a short skirt, I think. Then you have the pants under the skirt and then you can pull the stockings up over the pants underneath the skirt. And you can always take off the skirt and use it as a cape."

The September Issue

Have you seen it? I spent Friday night watching and then dissecting a pile of Vogues I hadn't gotten around to reading yet.

These three cats are the main characters. Grace's story was most interesting and my fave, but the peek into Anna's life was like seeing Oz behind the curtain. Andre is just Andre. So entertaining. A Louis Vuitton cooler for tennis? Please. Loved it.

Away We Go

I love a creative wedding invitation. The letterpress makes this one extra special. It was designed by bride and groom Jessie & Tyler and made a reality by Studio on Fire in Minneapolis. Even the couple's wedding website is super cute.

And Then Macarons Took Over the World

Sometimes there's just no ignoring blog trends. Recently it's been macarons, although in their defense they've been around for awhile. They do look pretty and are suuuper versatile with all those color choices (especially for weddings). In February, NPR even declared the macaron the new cupcake. Poor cupcakes. They had a good run.

More on the French confection:
Word on the street is Sucre is the place to be for a sweet fix.
You know Martha's all over the macaron.
"Macarons are not meant to be mainstream." Yikes, WSJ.
Some blame Oprah for their increase in popularity. Obviously she'd have something to do with this.

Vera + David = Budget Conscious, Happy Brides

I couldn't have imagined Charlotte choosing her first wedding gown at David's Bridal. Never. Would've. Happened. However, this seems much more likely now that Vera Wang has teamed up with David's Bridal to unveil a new lower budget collection next Spring. First Kohl's now David's Bridal? Yeesh.

Urban Outfitters is also joining the bridal party - their collection, under the Anthro label, will be found online before moving to brick & mortar. Urban Inc.'s CEO says his bridal attire will be "heirlooms, to be passed on from one generation to the next."  I'm anxious to see it all.

To Do

"It is just as disastrous to have the wrong accessories in your room as it is to wear sport shoes with an evening dress." - Dorothy Draper

Small & Cool

Styled home photos are obviously always amazing to look at/drool over/file away for inspiration. But when it comes to the nitty gritty, who doesn't love Apartment Therapy for always showing the real deal, little doggies and all? What's even better is their 6th annual Small, Cool Contest where they "invite readers from around the world to inspire us with their beautiful small spaces and tips for small-scale living." This year's contest is now closed, but go here to see the rules/prizes and vote for your fave Small & Cool.

Surprise Wedding

A few weeks ago, Amy Moss of Eat Drink Chic, and her fiancee had a surprise wedding under the guise of what guests believed was their engagement party. I love all the details of their day (especially those hanging bottles)...

"I chose 'simple', 'rustic', 'recycled', 'vintage' and 'casual' as the key themes of our wedding 'picnic'. Wanting to capture a fresh, spring feel I set bright warm reds, oranges, pinks and yellows ablaze against a rustic landscape of wooden furniture, vintage crates, wine barrels, an odd assortment of collected jars and and bottles and bamboo plates and cutlery. Guests were advised a dress code of 'smart casual' to maintain the relaxed and understated tone of the event."

Layering Mirrors

I've been mentally filing away these pictures for awhile. Why not float another mirror on an already existing mirror wall? It's a simple concept with a striking result. This design idea has been making its way around the design blog block and I. dig. it.

Tomorrow It Will Be 80 Degrees

And I'm thinking about summer in these shoes.

Ok maybe not these shoes exactly because I would probably kill myself walking in them, but shoes similar. Very similar. And more tall person friendly.
Like these. Steve Madden.

The Best Lip Gloss On Earth

Currently, I have 2 of these floating around my purse, 1 on my dresser, 1 in my makeup bag, and two stashed in a drawer for backups. I'm addicted. It's serious. It's my Mom's fault.

The one place this isn't is my nightstand. That spot is saved for this:

Silver Soles

I used to have a pair of silver flats from Target that I loved. They were a tad small so I ended up donating them somewhere.  I miss them. These would be a good replacement.
Too bad my budget remains in Target range.

We Interrupt Regular Blogging to Save Stock School

Please note the big blue button I've added on the side over there. I'm using this small public platform to get the word out about helping to save Stock School. Stock is a Preschool in Chicago (right down the block from me) that is in danger of closing in the coming months. Stock's motto is, "Where All Children Belong." Regardless of ability or disability, all children have a home at Stock School.

The Girls With Glasses Show

How fun is this video? It's the theme song for The Girls With Glasses Show, hosted by Brooke White (American Idol season 7/the cutest ever) and Summer Bellessa (model and editor of ELIZA mag/equally cute). Dubbed "the smart girl talk show," the quirky concept is currently in the works.

Teething Treasure

An overflow of babies swirling around the lives of my friends has led me to tons of mom blogs for fun tips and products for these mommies to be. For example, I just happened upon this little gem...

By Sonny & Reed, a designer teething necklace...for mom.
Mama stays fashionable while baby gnaws on something FDA approved.

A win/win.

Please excuse my absence as I have been Spring Breaking.
Forgive me and consider these envelopes...
